The Kizingo Bar
We have a fully stocked bar with ice cold Tusker beer and really good cocktails shaken to perfection by our brilliant and entertaining barmen, Alex, Sammy and Tom. The bar is a great place to come and hang out in the evenings when guest gather together to talk about their day. Its also one of the only bars in Kenya that you can sit out on the terrece and watch the sunset over the chanel and the main land! We are also the local pub for the small community of people that have homes next door to us. Kizingo bar is a place you will likely meet all sorts of people from every parts of the world and all of you will have one thing in common and that is choosing to come to Lamu and hang out here with us!
The Kizingo Restaurant
Kizingo has a brilliant chief called Kachura who cooks up the unique, simple, light healthy meals. We have a set menu as we believe that to much choice can get in the way of a relaxing vacation! We are more than happy to cater on request for vegetarians, Vegans and people with food allergies or on Glutton free diets. We cook using fresh fish caught by local fishermen. We source our fruits and vegtables from local markets in the area, such as across the channel on the mainland in Mpeketoni and from the the Lamu old town market too. We also have a small organic garden at Kizingo where we grow basel, rocket, chillies and mint. The bread at Kizingo is freshly baked each day in a clay oven. We serve a three course meal for dinner and lunch. At breakfast we offer all our guests fresh Mango, Papaya, Bananas and Water melon as well as a full english breakfast with fresh Kenyan coffee or tea. Kachura can also make a really good cinnamon and Lamu lime pancake too! On a Sunday we have Chicken curry Lunch mainly as its a tradition in Kenya, but also because one tends to loose track of time on Lamu and this helps remind us what day of the week it is.
